Kiran Young Wimberly

A Presbyterian (USA) minister and spiritual director living on the north coast of Ireland; a musician and podcaster; a retreat and pilgrimage leader; and a consultant in spirituality and resilience

TEDx Talk 2024 Description: When we encounter the stresses of daily life – hectic moments, personal crises, and collective traumas – we need tools to help us find balance and restoration. The ancient prayers of the Psalms, expressing honest and authentic emotion through poetry and music, can lift the spirit and offer resources to help us face the challenges before us. Kiran Young Wimberly shares her journey with the Psalms: turning to them for solace as a child, arranging them to Celtic melodies, and hosting a podcast on the Psalms and resilience. She explores the power of poetry, spirituality, and music to soothe, heal, and restore us when we need it most, and performs with the music group Celtic Psalms.

Journey the Psalms with me in 2024

How do the Psalms speak into our lives? How can they help us get in touch with our deeper emotions, and to better understand ourselves? How can they lead us to live fuller, more honest, more authentic lives? What can they show us about who God is and who we’re invited to be in the world?

Join me on a journey through 44 Psalms, through a weekly podcast and accompanying journal

Featured Podcast

Featured guest: Pádraig Ó Tuama, poet, theologian, host of On Being’s Poetry Unbound, and member and former leader of the Corrymeela Community.

In this conversation we talk about the language of the Psalms - Psalms in translation, Psalms in Irish; about how the beauty of words put together in a certain way can move us and heal us; and about how even when we might feel all alone, a poem - and a prayer, and a Psalm - is a way for us to imagine what it might be like to be listened to, for our deepest selves to be heard.
